US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told reporters Thursday that all US diplomacy with Ukraine was "completely in order" after the publication of a transcript of a conversation. Controversial telephone between US President Donald Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelinsky.
"As far as I know, and in the light of all that I have seen so far, everything that has taken place on the basis of decisions by State Department officials has been entirely appropriate," Pompeo said.
He added that all these activities "are consistent with the goal we have set" to strengthen relations with the new Ukrainian president and help him "end corruption in Ukraine."
"We hope we can help them do this. It will be good for Ukraine, which is good for Europe, and it will largely repel Russia," he said.
