Paris calls for lifting of Israeli blockade of Gaza Strip

Paris _ Palestine News Network

French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe called Friday to "lift the Israeli siege" imposed on the Gaza Strip and to reconcile Fatah and Hamas.

"There will be no peace without a lasting solution to Gaza, including Palestinian reconciliation and the lifting of the Israeli blockade," Philip said after meeting Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah in Paris.

Philip said France supported "a two-state solution", with Jerusalem as their capital.

He referred to the "alarming situation" in the region caused by the "acceleration of Israeli settlement" and the confrontations between Palestinians and the Israeli army on the border between the Gaza Strip and Israel.

For his part, Hamdallah reiterated his call for the organization of an international conference "with broad participation involving the concerned parties" with the aim of "reviving the peace process."
