Sources in the Palestinian association confirmed that, on saturday, the Israeli occupation authorities decided to reduce fishing space in the Gaza Strip from 9 nautical miles to 6 nautical miles.
The official Hebrew radio reported earlier that Israeli War Minister Avigdor Lieberman had instructed the army to reduce fishing space in the Gaza Strip from 9 to 6 miles, at the conclusion of security consultations with its military leaders, following the continuation of the return Marches.
An official in the Palestinian Association said the Israeli association had informed them on Saturday of the decision to reduce the area of fishing, which in turn informed the Palestinian Fishermen´s Union to circulate it to Fishermen.
The Israeli occupation brought the move two months ago and returned and retreated to the continuation of the Marches.
On friday, Lieberman threatened to escalate against the Hamas movement after the Jewish holiday period ended in September last September.
He wrote a tweet on his account with "twitter ", "the Holiday month went exactly as we planned without confrontation, and with heavy losses in the ranks of rioters on the Gaza border."
"the post-festive period came, and I say to Hamas leaders take this into account," he added.
The Israeli occupying forces are imposing a suffocating naval blockade on the Gaza strip, under which maritime activity in the face of Palestinians in general and fishermen in particular is closed and allowed for specific distances to increase or decrease as Decided.
Fishermen have been suffering from the naval blockade and have been adding fishing space since 2000, where fishermen have been denied access to the 20 nautical miles available to them in accordance with the Oslo Agreement signed between the PLO and the Israeli government in 1993, where the area fell to 12 nautical miles to six miles. Sometimes it reaches only three nautical miles.
