"Occupation Demolishes 3 Schools Since the Beginning of the Year, 53 Others at Risk

The Israeli Occupation Has Demolished 3 Schools Since the Beginning of the Year, 53 Others at Risk," said the Head of the Wall and Settlement Resistance Authority, Minister Moayad Shraim. He added that the Israeli occupation authorities have demolished three schools since the beginning of this year, in a flagrant violation of the most basic human rights, which guarantee the right to education and the right to ensure a healthy childhood for children, especially those living under occupation.

Minister Shraim stated in a statement on Friday, "The students of these schools are still living in a difficult situation and an uncertain fate regarding the future of the educational process that is about to start in the near future." He affirmed that the Authority is legally following up on the cases of these schools in order to rebuild them, especially "Jabal al-Dheib School" in Bethlehem and "Isfiya Mixed Elementary School" in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron.

He explained that the message of the occupation authorities does not stop at their attacks on the basic rights of our people but extends to the stance of international organizations and world countries that oppose, condemn, and criminalize their behavior. He pointed out that they deliberately carry out demolition operations, especially schools, shortly after any solidarity visits by ambassadors and consuls of world countries to these areas, disregarding all the humanitarian, political, and ethical considerations governing the world.

Minister Shraim addressed the fate of more than 1000 students in more than 53 Palestinian schools that are threatened with demolition at any moment. He emphasized that their fate is still hanging in the balance due to the possibility of being demolished by the occupation forces, which pursue a discriminatory planning policy based on racist considerations. They grant unlimited building permits to settlers while preventing Palestinians from continuing their normal lives. He called on the international community to assume its responsibilities in protecting the future of Palestinian children.

Minister Shraim appreciated the stance of the European Union and the United Kingdom, which condemned the demolition of the school in Ein Samiya, east of Ramallah, and called for preserving the right of Palestinian children to education. He urged the international community to play a more decisive role in confronting Israeli measures aimed at erasing Palestinian presence in the classified areas (Area C).
