The Secretary-General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Jens Stoltenberg, is to visit Norway on Tuesday to inspect NATO´s largest military training since the Cold War.
The training, which bears the codename "Trident Genmug ", began last week. About 50,000 troops, 10,000 vehicles and more than 300 aircraft and ships are involved in the training. It includes training on land, sea, air and cyber capabilities.
The aim of the training is to practice the alliance´s response to an attack on one of its members.
In addition to 29 NATO members, Finland and Sweden have also contributed their NATO partner troops to the training, which lasts until 7 November.
The exercise was scheduled to be inspected on Tuesday near the Norwegian city of Trondheim, where Stoltenberg also meets Norwegian Defense Minister Frank Pak-Jensen.
Stoltenberg, a former Norwegian prime minister, arrived in the country on Monday.
