The UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East peace process, Nikolai Miladinov, said Monday that Israel must realize that Gaza is "on the verge of explosion and that the blockade imposed on it should be lifted to improve the conditions in which Palestinians live in the sector ."
"We are very concerned about the use of live ammunition by Israeli forces against the Palestinians, as well as the use of excessive force, and Israel," he said.
The statement was made by the UN coordinator through a television service from Jerusalem during the UN Security Council´s rotating session on the Palestinian issue, which is currently held at the UN headquarters in New York.
"Recent days have seen the dangers of an armed conflict that threatens violence in Gaza, increasing the suffering of Palestinians in the sector," the UN official said.
"We have to work to ensure calm in the sector," he said. The Palestinians cannot remain hostage to the status quo. "
"The success of international efforts to address the situation depends primarily on the will of the parties concerned, and I call on Hamas to stop provocative actions, and I call on Israel to facilitate the movement of goods and people to and from the sector."

قال المنسق الأممي الخاص لعملية السلام ÙÙŠ الشرق الأوسط "نيكولاي ميلادينوÙ"ØŒ الاثنين، إنه يجب علي إسرائيل الإدراك بأن غزة "على وشك الانÙجار وأنه يتعيّن رÙع الØصار المÙروض عليها لتØسين الظرو٠التي يعيشها الÙلسطينيون ÙÙŠ القطاع".
وأضاÙ: "Ù†ØÙ† قلقون للغاية من استخدام الذخيرة الØية من قبل القوات الإسرائيلية ضد الÙلسطينيين، وكذلك استخدام القوة المÙرطة، وعلى إسرائيل".
جاء ذلك ÙÙŠ الإÙادة التي قدمها المنسق الأممي عبر دائرة تلÙزيونية من القدس، خلال جلسة مجلس الأمن الدولي الدورية Øول القضية الÙلسطينية المنعقدة Øاليا بالمقر الدائم للأمم المتØدة ÙÙŠ نيويورك.
