The Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the United Nations, Ambassador Riyad Mansour , said that over the past twenty years, Israel has killed more than 10,000 Palestinians, including 2,000 children.
This came in three identical messages sent by Ambassador Mansour, today, Monday, to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the President of the Security Council for this month (China), and the President of the United Nations General Assembly, on the Israeli military aggression on the besieged Gaza Strip, noting the martyrdom of 46 Palestinians. , including 15 children, and the injury of nearly 400 people as a result of the Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip.
Mansour noted that Israel´s routine killing of Palestinian children should remind the international community, especially the Security Council, that children enjoy protection under the Fourth Geneva Convention and other provisions of international law, including the Convention on the Rights of the Child, wondering: When are Palestinian children entitled to enjoy these rights Global and international law protection?
Mansour stressed that the repeated bombings against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip are a clear indication of the failure of the Israeli policies of inhumane siege and aggressive wars, and only lead to more destruction and suffering for civilians, and highlight the need for immediate international protection for the Palestinian people. He reiterated the Palestinians´ repeated calls for the Security Council to assume its responsibilities in accordance with the Charter, to act urgently and responsibly to stop the Israeli attack, and to protect innocent lives.
Mansour also pointed out that Israel, the occupying power, intensified its colonial policies in Jerusalem, in an attempt to consolidate the apartheid regime in Palestine, and highlighted in this context the continuous policies of incitement carried out by Israeli politicians and extremist religious leaders, along with Crowds of extremist settlers, under the protection of the occupation soldiers, stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque and Al-Haram Al-Sharif.
He noted that the Israeli government announced plans to build 700 housing units in East Jerusalem, and more than 1,400 housing units in the so-called "Har Homa" and "Givat Hamatos" settlements, with the aim of undermining the contiguity of the Palestinian land and severely reducing the Palestinian presence in Jerusalem.
