Known: We are heading to tighten measures, and there are no new strains in Gaza

Head of the Governmental Information Office in Gaza, Salama Maarouf, said today, Sunday, that the significant increase in the number of recorded injuries will be a milestone in the preventive measures, expecting to tighten prevention and safety measures in Gaza within hours.

In an interview with Al-Aqsa local radio in Gaza, Maarouf stated that popular markets, public places, wedding halls and funeral homes are the sectors that cause the most transmission of infection, indicating that more measures may be taken in some of these sectors.

He added that "the evaluation process of the epidemiological situation continues over time, and continuous meetings to assess the situation and recommend appropriate action."

"There are no specific dates or days for the Crisis Cell to heal, but there is a case of follow-up and evaluation that takes place on a daily basis, and the process of raising the recommendation and approving it is taking place on a daily basis, and there is no need to wait."

For his part, Yousef Al-Akkad, Director of the European Gaza Hospital, said that there are 50 Corona patients inside the hospital, 15 of whom are on intensive care beds, and 35 others on dangerous beds need support with oxygen devices.

"Until the moment, we are not talking about new strains because there are similarities in the same symptoms that patients are currently experiencing with the symptoms of the first wave of the pandemic, and we deal with them with the same treatment protocol," he added.
