The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced, Thursday, that Japan has donated 10 million US dollars to meet the urgent needs resulting from the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
This came after a phone call between Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki and his Japanese counterpart, Toshimitzu Motegi, according to a ministry statement.
"We have provided $ 10 million in aid ... and we are ready to provide more ... for the reconstruction of Gaza, when these arrangements are initiated through the Palestinian Authority," Motegi said, according to the statement.
He affirmed his country´s position in support of the two-state solution (Palestinian and Israeli), and its readiness to continue its diplomatic efforts in order to restore confidence that would allow a return to the negotiating table.
Last Friday, a cease-fire began between Israel and the Palestinian factions in Gaza, mediated by Egypt, after an 11-day Israeli military aggression on the Strip, where more than two million Palestinians live.
The aggression on Gaza resulted in the damage of 1,800 housing units and the destruction of 184 towers and houses, as well as a number of factories and economic facilities, according to official data.
