Israeli occupying forces arrested 484 Palestinians from the occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT) during August last August, Palestinian rights figures said on Monday.
The data released in a human rights report prepared by three human rights groups on prisoners ´ affairs in the occupation prisons indicated that during August, 62 arrests were documented among children and 18 in women.
It explained that the occupation arrested 118 Palestinians from occupied Jerusalem, 85 from Ramallah and al-Bireh, 80 from Hebron, and 25 from Jenin. In addition, 40 citizens from Bethlehem and 55 from Nablus were arrested.
The human rights groups monitored 16 arrests in Tulkarm, 19 from Qalqilya and 7 from Tubas, while IOF arrested 6 from Salfit and 15 from Jericho, as well as 18 citizens from the Gaza Strip.
As at 31 August, the number of prisoners in occupation prisons had reached about 6,000, including 51 women, including two minors, in addition to 300 children.
The occupation authorities issued 100 administrative arrest warrants during the same period, including 41 new orders. According to human rights sources, the number of administrative prisoners has reached approximately 430.
Human rights institutions have pointed out that they have monitored 90 cases of arrests of Palestinian women by the occupation forces since the beginning of 2018, while 156 were arrested last year.
She noted that the number of arrests among women in 2016 was 164, and about 106 in 2015, an increase of 70 per cent from 2013 and 60 per cent over 2014.
Since 1967, the Israeli occupation has arrested more than 10,000 Palestinian women, and today it is holding 51 prisoners in the two prisons, "HaSharon " and "Damoon ", two in administrative detention, nine women prisoners of injuries, and 21 mothers for 78 (son and son), most of them children.
During the month of August, the administrative prisoners continued to confront and reject the policy of administrative detention, and nearly 10 prisoners carried out hunger strikes, as part of the militant programme approved by the administrative prisoners to boycott the occupation courts since February February 2018.
