A delegation that included twenty Israeli directors, artists and writers affirmed its rejection of the continuation of the Israeli occupation, and the perpetuation of the status quo forever.

The delegation announced during a meeting held by the Committee for Communication with the Israeli Society, in Ramallah, today, Saturday, its belief in the existence of a Palestinian partner for peace, adding that the Israeli Artists Association will work hard to publish what was discussed before the Israeli public opinion, so that the Israelis know that there is a real partner on the side. The other, and that true and just peace cannot be achieved without recognizing the right of the Palestinian people to their independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967.

The head of the Communication Committee, a member of the Central Committee of the “Fatah” movement, Muhammad al-Madani, called for Israeli intellectuals and artists to have a role in working for a just peace based on the two-state solution, with a fair and agreed solution to the Palestinian refugee issue, in accordance with UN Resolution 194, and as It was mentioned in the Arab Peace Initiative of 2002.

For his part, the Israeli playwright Moti Lerner expressed his opposition to the continuation of the occupation, adding, “We listened to words that we had not heard before, and we believe that the Palestinian partner exists and is real, and we must work together for peace and an end to the occupation, and I look forward to learning Palestinian culture, literature and creativity.”

In turn, the Israeli film director Sinai Peter indicated that the work will be done to familiarize the Israelis with the reality of the Palestinian reality, and the bad occupation and its continuation that harms the two peoples, adding that the control of the Palestinian people must end, and they live in their independent state.

For his part, Chief Justice Mahmoud al-Habbash affirmed that the delegation’s arrival is a sound step at the right time and that our people want peace on the basis of the two-state solution, pointing out that the problem lies with the Israeli side, which is still evading the entitlements of a just and comprehensive solution, in accordance with international legitimacy and United Nations resolutions. related to.

On questions about normalization, Al-Habbash stressed that the question itself means that the relationship between the two peoples is not normal, and many of our people reject it, and the reason is the continuation of the occupation and its measures.

And he indicated that normalization with the Arab countries is not a source of peace, because peace begins in Palestine and cannot be achieved without recognizing the right of our people to self-determination and the establishment of their independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital on the June 4, 1967 borders.

A number of members of the delegation expressed their desire to learn about Palestinian culture, Palestinian intellectual production, and the reality experienced by our people, in a way that contributes to pushing for more work in Israel to convey the reality of the harsh measures taking place and the attacks against our people under occupation.

The visit of the Israeli artists to the city of Ramallah came in the context of the conflict between the Palestinian and Israeli novels, where the Palestinian novel should not be absent, but rather cling to it and transfer it to the neck of Israeli society.
