Israeli occupation planes on Monday launched air raids on Palestinian resistance positions in the central and southern Gaza Strip, in connection with allegations of air balloons loaded with explosive materials in the direction of Israeli settlements in the vicinity of the strip.
Local Palestinian sources reported that the Israeli occupation planes shelled a resistance checkpoint east of al-Maghazi camp, another east of Deir el-Balah (central Gaza Strip) and a monitoring point east of Al-Sanati neighborhood east of Khan Yunis (south of the strip);
The Hebrew newspaper "Yediot Aharonot" reported on its website that the Israeli air force bombed targets in the Gaza Strip in response to the firing of "booby-trapped" balloons.
"Military helicopters raided two Hamas positions in the southern Gaza Strip in response to the firing of a packet of balloons loaded with an explosive device towards Israel," the Israeli army spokesman was quoted as saying.
He noted that the hadeeth revolved around "balloons booby-trapped", which did not cause casualties among the settlers or any damage to the Gaza envelope.
