Ireland to boycott Israeli settlement products

A member of the Executive committee of the PLO Ahmed Majdalani on Thursday approved the Irish Senate for another phase of the law to boycott the products of Israeli settlements in the Palestinian territories.

When he met in Ramallah, Ireland´s ambassador to the Palestinian Authority, Jonathan Konlon, Majdalani said on Friday that the Irish Senate was "important and courageous and a wise political decision."

Majdalani said the move "is in line with international law, which considers the settlement illegal and illegal, and that any blockade of settlement and settlements is a support for the two-state solution."

He renewed the call for Ireland to recognize the state of Palestine, stressing that this "contributes to supporting the peace process and not as Israel claims to harm it."

The statement quoted Konlon as saying that his country strongly supports the two-state solution, the resolutions of international legitimacy, the Irish-Palestinian relations in a permanent development, and there are continuing political consultations, and the situation in the region and tension would affect the entire region.

In the same vein, the first Deputy speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council, Hamas Ahmed Bahr thanked the Irish Parliament for its vote against Israeli settlement products.

In a statement, Bahr said, "Free the world is now renouncing the settlements and describing them as illegal because they are located in the occupied Palestinian territories."

He called on the Parliament of the world to take the steps of the Irish Parliament and enact the necessary laws to "isolate Israel and renounce the products of its settlements on the Palestinian territories."
