"Instagram" announced that it will update privacy options in its application to give users more control over the information they share with third parties.
The new feature can be accessed by clicking on "Settings" in the "Instagram" menu, then clicking on the "Security" button, then selecting "Apps and Websites", where the user will be able to From quickly revoking access to external applications (third-party applications) that he or she does not use or trust.
With this new feature, users will be able to review each authorized third party to access their accounts and manage what they can access.
"Third-party applications and sites often provide an option to import images from Instagram or connect / link to Instagram," Instagram said in a statement on its Web site.
“Some examples include applications that allow a user to easily print Instagram photos or help him create a website. After connecting his account to an external service, he can give them access to some of his profile information, such as his username and photos.”
The company is also developing an "authorization" screen that requires users to explicitly approve new requests for information from third-party applications.
Instagram says the new features will reach users around the world in the next six months.
The move comes as part of the company´s long-standing measures to maintain users ´privacy and protect them from negative social media influences, including the cancellation of the Following tab, which provided information about followers´ likes, hoping to make users more aware when browsing the app.
