The Arab American University confirmed today, Thursday, that according to the results of the tests that confirmed the presence of cases of new strains of the Corona virus in Palestine, and at a time when Palestine, like the rest of the world, is working to track new mutations of the virus, the Ministry of The Palestinian Health sent 27 samples suspected of having mutations to the laboratories of the Arab American University in Ramallah, where the laboratory team conducted the necessary tests to detect mutations. The tests confirmed the presence of 24 samples of the “Indian” delta strain B.1.617.2, and two samples of “British” alpha strain B.1.1.7, and one “South African” beta strain B.1.351, in samples sent.
The university points out that the information related to the genetic factors of the virus is a major indicator of the process of spreading the virus in Palestine, and stresses the importance of research in monitoring genetic developments and mutations of the virus.
The university continues to track the samples of its auditors, and to track people who have been infected or received the vaccine in a series of research studies conducted by the university laboratories.
