Indonesia strongly rejects the Israeli annexation plan

The Republic of Indonesia has affirmed strongly its opposition to the illegal Israeli annexation scheme.

This came in a message received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Riyad Al-Maliki, today, Friday, from his Indonesian counterpart, Ritno Marsoudi.

In her message, Marsoudi stressed that her country, based on its non-permanent membership in the Security Council, will urge members of the Security Council and the international community to reject the illegal Israeli plan and continue to express the international position in support of the two-state solution in accordance with United Nations resolutions and international legitimacy.

In turn, Al-Maliki welcomed the Indonesian position conveyed by the foreign minister, and her indication that the Israeli plan not only threatens peace and stability in the region, but also undermines all efforts aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace for the Palestinian cause in accordance with the two-state solution and the principles of international legitimacy.

He also praised Indonesia´s firm position on the Palestinian issue and its unconditional support for the movements of the Palestinian leadership led by President Mahmoud Abbas to end Israeli colonialism and realize all legitimate Palestinian rights, especially his right to self-determination and independence for the state of Palestine, with its capital in Jerusalem, and the right of return for Palestinian refugees.

Al-Maliki added that the message of the Indonesian Foreign Minister came in response to his message in which he addressed Indonesia and other countries of the world, in the context of the ongoing Palestinian diplomatic efforts to thwart the illegal annexation scheme, and other Israeli colonial policies that were borrowed in light of what humanity suffers in fighting the "Corona" pandemic. And, the American administration´s blind support for Israeli colonialism and its endeavor to destroy the international multilateral system based on the foundations and rules of international law.
