During the past month, the Israeli occupation courts imposed effective prison sentences on a number of Palestinian children in the "Ofer" prison, together with exorbitant fines totalling more than 85,000 shekels.

In a report issued to it on Sunday, the prisoners and Editors ´ Affairs authority noted that, during July last month, 16 prisoners were confined to the "Ofer" Prisoners ´ section, 8 were arrested from houses, 3 from the streets, 1 was arrested on military roadblocks, 2 were not in possession of a permit, and others after Called.

Among them were the Cubs arrested during the month, a minor who had been arrested after being shot, and six others who had been subjected to barbaric attacks during their arrest and interrogation in Israeli detention centres.

In its report, the Board indicated that the number of children sentenced was 36, with actual prison sentences ranging from 31 months to 34 months.

Three children remain under administrative detention, the authority said, noting that in recent years, Israeli military courts have stepped up heavy fines on prisoners, especially children, within a programmed and approved policy, which is a burden on them In the context of the deteriorating economic conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories.
