Human Rights Center issues report on targeting of medical personnel in return marches

The Palestinian Center for Human Rights on Tuesday issued a new report entitled: "Israeli occupation forces targeted Palestinian medical teams in return marches and broke the siege."

The report (the second issued by the Center) highlights the crimes committed by the Israeli occupying forces against Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip, attacks on medical personnel, and medical transport for the rescue and evacuation of the dead and wounded. The report documents the number of deaths and injuries from paramedics, and the number of medical transportation damaged by Israeli attacks in the same period.

The report, received by the Palestine News Network, shows that Israeli occupation soldiers used excessive force against medical personnel who were performing their duties in the eastern border areas of the Gaza Strip, and that they posed no threat to the lives of Israeli occupation soldiers, which represented no threat to the lives of Israeli occupation soldiers.

In violation of the rules of international humanitarian law and the rules of international human rights law. The report is consistent with the assertion by the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on February 28, 2019, that "there are reasonable grounds to believe that Israeli snipers shot journalists, medics, children and persons with disabilities."

According to the report, three Palestinian medical personnel were killed despite the clear ness of their badges, and 155 paramedics, including 33 paramedics, were injured, bringing the number of deaths from paramedics to 4 dead, and the number of injured paramedics to 255 wounded, including 38 paramedics, since the return marches began. The Israeli attacks also damaged 133 ambulances, hampering the work of medical personnel.

In its recommendations, the report called on the international community to take immediate and decisive steps to stop the grave and serious violations committed by the Israeli occupying forces against Palestinian civilians, including Palestinian medical personnel in the Gaza Strip. He also called on the ICRC to intervene to ensure that medical personnel in the Gaza Strip work freely and to provide them with the necessary protection. The report called for Israel to be held accountable by investigating crimes against civilians participating in peaceful return marches and attacks on Palestinian medical personnel.
