Huawei unveils new 2.5x folding phone soon

Beijing _ Agencies

The mobile phones (Flip) were popular until quite a while and now it seems to have become a spiritual heir. Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Chinese Smart phone industry, said to the Digital Trends website,

His company is working on the creation of a folding mobile phone as part of the next generation of devices that it manufactures, the American Engadget website.

According to Liu, Huawei is exploring the possibility of making a retractable 3.5x smartphone. Other employees of the company have discussed this idea in the past and set a date for the launch of this folding machine in 2019.

However, the CEO pointed out that the phone is not yet ready to fit the consumer´s needs and does not seem to be able to be released to the market in the near future.

Instead, Yu said the company has focused on providing other phones such as Huawei Mate 20 X, a 7.2-inch smartphone that can be added to the folding feature without a doubt.

The idea of a folding smartphone has been on the table for years, but technical hurdles have hindered its production. Flexible and collapsible screens, such as Samsung Galaxy Round and LG G Flex, are available on the market, for example, but have never shown the full potential of folding display development.

These devices were often proof of the idea of a collapsible device, rather than a device to be produced.

Samsung, which uses flexible screens within its Galaxy lineup for several years, has published an advertisement revealing a folding smartphone that can be launched later this year. If it succeeds, it can pave the way for other companies like Huawei seeking to apply similar ideas.
