Dozens of citizens were suffocated in central Hebron today, Friday, during the Israeli occupation army’s suppression of a march to commemorate the 27th anniversary of the Al-Haram al-Ibrahimi massacre.
The official news agency reported that the occupation army fired stun grenades and tear gas towards the citizens, after they left in a march that started in front of the Ali Crying Mosque in the center of the city to commemorate the massacre of the Tomb of the Patriarchs and to denounce the actions and attacks of the occupation on the Temple Mount, which led to dozens of them suffocating.
The marchers raised the flag of Palestine and pictures of the sanctuary and the martyrs, and chanted slogans condemning the crimes of the occupation and settlers.
It is noteworthy that the massacre of the Tomb of the Patriarchs was carried out on Friday, February 25, 1994, the fifteenth of Ramadan, by the terrorist settler Baruch Goldstein, who entered the Ibrahimi Mosque and shot at the worshipers, killing 29 worshipers and wounding 150 others. The Israeli occupation soldiers present in the campus closed the doors of the mosque to prevent the worshipers from leaving, and they also prevented those coming from outside the campus from reaching its square to rescue the wounded, and later others were martyred by bullets from the occupation soldiers outside the mosque and during the funerals of the martyrs, which brought their total to 50 martyrs. 29 of them were killed inside the mosque.
