The Hebrew radio Kan reported, on Sunday morning, that the Palestininan authority has again begun promoting a proposal within the United Nations under which an appeal would be submitted to the International Court of Justice in the Hague, in order to formulate a legal opinion of the Israeli occupations of the West Bank.
According to the radio, the Palestinians are seeking, through Nicaragua, to declare that ongoing Israeli occupation of the West Bank clearly represents a process of annexation of Palestinian lands, and thus constitutes a violation of international law and previous Security Council resolutions.
The radio indicated that next week there will be a discussion on this issue at the United Nations, and the Israeli ambassador, Gilad Erden, will demand that the issue be put to a vote.
She noted that Israel is very upset with the measure and expects that the chances of its passage and approval at the United Nations are very high.
It quoted an informed source, as saying that the United States is also exerting heavy pressure in an attempt to postpone the step, but without success so far.
In 2003, as a similar procedure took place at the International Court of Justice in The Hague with regard to the separation wall.
