Ali al-Hayek, head of the Palestinian Businessmen Association, demanded today, Monday, the entry of more building materials, goods and raw materials into the Gaza Strip, considering that the introduction of building materials to the private sector for the first time in more than three months is an important step on the ground. Hayek said in a press statement to him, "We welcome this step that needs further development to include a complete lifting of the siege and the introduction of all kinds of goods, raw materials, building materials and construction without any restrictions."
He added that "improving the economic situation in Gaza and the start of reconstruction gives a real opportunity to achieve calm and stability, especially in light of the catastrophic conditions that affected sectors of the economy and led to the closure of hundreds of facilities and the displacement of thousands of workers from their jobs."
Hayek stressed the need to neutralize the Gaza economy and the population´s needs from politics, stressing that the siege and repeated wars have deprived more than 2 million Palestinians in the Strip of living in dignity like the rest of the world´s population.
Al-Hayek called for the need for the upcoming efforts to support the Gaza economy and the private sector directly, through the injection of funds and the return of the work of international projects. And generous contribution to the reconstruction and stabilization of the state of calm in the Strip.
