German Chancellor Angela Merkel will visit Tel Aviv on Thursday to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Hebrew daily Ha´aretz reported on Wednesday morning.
According to the paper, the visit will be limited to meeting Israeli officials within the traditional meeting agreed between the two sides each year alternating between Tel Aviv and Berlin.
According to the paper, the meeting will discuss the Iranian dossier and the escalation in Gaza, and Merkel will express its rejection of some Israeli activities in the region.
According to the paper, the evacuation of al-Khan al-Ahmar village despite the expiry of the deadline for the population will not take place as long as Merkel will be in Israel due to political sensitivity.
The opposition parties in Israel and Germany have issued a joint statement calling for an end to the occupation, halting the demolition of the Red Khan and halting the promotion of the far right in the two countries. Considering the evacuation of the Red Khan as a crime contrary to international law.
In 2017, the annual meeting was not held after Merkel protested against the law on the confiscation of Palestinian land in favour of settlements, the paper said.
