Germany on Tuesday provided financial support for vital Palestinian projects in both the West Bank and Gaza Strip, worth € 76 million.
And the Palestinian government announced, in a press statement today, Tuesday, the signing of agreements on German support in the office of its Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh in the city of Ramallah, in the presence of officials from both sides.
Shtayyeh said that German support would allow the implementation of vital projects in the sectors of education, vocational training, sanitation, the water sector in the Gaza Strip and for local government.
He mentioned that the agreements also include support to the private sector and loan guarantees, the tourism sector, information technology, and the food industry, and to complete the sanitation project east of Nablus.
Shtayyeh thanked Germany for this generous and important support under the difficult circumstances facing the Palestinian government, and for what Berlin is also providing in the European Union.
He stressed that "Germany is a partner with us to strengthen the Palestinian national economy, and to promote the building of Palestinian institutions towards statehood and independence."
In turn, the German representative to Palestine Christian Clijs said: "We are strong partners with you, and we are confident that we will apply what we signed today on the ground to meet the various needs."
