On Tuesday, the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Yusf Abu al-Rish, called on EU countries to exert pressure on the Israeli occupation to end its siege of the Gaza Strip once and for all, as well as to save the health system in the Gaza Strip in light of the outbreak of the Corona virus.
This came during a meeting held at the European Hospital gaza, with 18 ambassadors from the European Union and in the presence of the President of the World Health Organization, Gillard Roxhub.
Abu Al-Rash warned of the seriousness of the health situation in Gaza due to the severe shortage of medicines, consumables, laboratory materials and medical equipment, and called for taking direct steps to save the health system and support its urgent needs with the outbreak of the epidemic and increased preparation of the infection of the Corona virus.
He noted the efforts of his ministry in the face of the pandemic, which included the development of political, procedures and protocols, doubling the production of the quantities of axin from 800 liters to more than 3,000 liters and increasing the number of beds, developing the capabilities of cadres and supporting the central laboratory.
The delegation also saw live broadcasts from within the departments of the European Gaza Hospital for Patients of Corona and the volume of efforts in the treatment of patients in the light of the increase of cases and limited possibilities, as well as a meeting with a number of staff staff at the hospital and a tour of the stations of The Axin.
During the meeting, WHO Director Sasha Sopuma presented a presentation on the reality, health indicators and the most important challenges facing the Gaza health system and the suffering of patients due to lack of medicine and the difficulty of transporting them for treatment outside the Gaza Strip.
