Gaza fishermen demand stop Israeli violations against them

The fisherman sector in the Labor unit bloc, the Labor framework of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, staged a rally in front of the fishermen´s harbor in the Deir al-Balah sea in the central Gaza Strip, rejecting the practices and violations by the Israeli occupation forces against Palestinian fishermen in the strip´s sea.

The fisherman lifted banners reading "No to the policy of occupation against fishermen and their boats", "I am a hunter looking for a living for me and my children" and "Yes to the dignity and rights of the Hunter".

Jamal al-Aqra, head of the fishermen´s sector in the bloc, said: "The sit-in in support of fishermen in the face of the occupation measures and violations, in prosecuting and confiscating fishermen´s boats, firing them and arresting them, and reducing the fishing space from 15 nautical miles to 6 miles, reducing the measures to ease the blockade in the Gaza Strip ».

Al-Aqra called on the Egyptian and UN mediators to intervene quickly and pressure the Israeli occupation to stop the attacks on fishermen and allow them to hunt freely and without harassment.

Al-Aqra demanded that the fishermen´s Union play its role more broadly in defending the fishermen and their rights.
