Head of the Quarantine and Crossings Committee at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Salah Al-Rantisi, confirmed that the Gaza Strip is free of infections from the emerging corona virus, denying that there are any cases in the Gaza hospitals so far.
Al-Rantissi pointed out that the most important measures taken against the pilgrims returning recently, the house quarantine for 14 days, and the formation of a committee by the Medical Intelligence and the security apparatus to follow them.
On Thursday evening, the Follow-up Committee on Governmental Action issued a statement in which it appreciated the great efforts made by the Ministry of Health staff and all other institutions to protect citizens from infection with the virus, and called for the need for the honorable citizens to take responsibility and commitment.
The Governmental Follow-up Committee decided to take new measures that will start working on Friday morning, the most important of which is to prevent individuals from traveling through the crossings until further notice except for the most urgent cases to limit the transmission of infection, and to subject all arrivals across the crossings to compulsory quarantine.
She stressed the extension of the decision to close all educational institutions until the end of the month of March, to be evaluated on a weekly basis, and to continue to intensify and expand the checks of everyone suspected of being infected with the virus.
The committee affirmed the commitment of citizens returning to the Gaza Strip before these decisions come into force to implement quarantine procedures, and everyone who violates the pledge will be subject to legal accountability.
It called on citizens to refrain from holding large gatherings, in order to preserve their health and lives, and emphasized full interest in preventive measures, according to the instructions and directives published by the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization.
She stressed the need to be careful in reporting the news, and not to publish any news related to the Corona virus unless it was issued by the Ministry of Health, stressing that everyone who violates this will expose himself to legal accountability.
