Blue and White party leader Benny Gantz and Labor Party leader Amir Peretz announced today, Monday, that they are working towards forming a unity between their parties.
According to the Hebrew newspaper Ha´aretz, the aim of this step is to work together in the Knesset and coordinate positions between them, and then in the next stage, political cooperation to prepare for the upcoming elections.
"This is a natural link to the Gantz list, which is a very important process, and it will be a prelude to our union becoming the largest, and we will have a much greater ability to influence the Knesset and outside it than is currently the case," Peretz told the newspaper.
The left-wing parties attacked this move, viewing it as the end of the Labor Party.
