A Seattle judge has approved a deal to settle the divorce of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos from his wife Mackenzie after a 25-year marriage, paving the way for her $ 38.3 billion stake in Amazon, Bloomberg reported.
Amazon, the world´s largest retailer, said in April that four percent of its 19.7 million shares would be registered as McKinsey Bezos after the court approved the divorce.
The richest couple in the world announced their divorce in a joint statement on Twitter in January, which worried some would end up getting Bezos to vote or sell large amounts of shares.
Bloomberg said on Friday that Bezos would keep a 12 percent stake of $ 114.8 billion and would remain the world´s richest. McKinsey said it would give it its voting power under its equity ownership.
In May, McKinsey pledged to donate half of her wealth to charity in the Jiffing Hill campaign announced by billionaire Warren Buffett and Bill Gates, one of Microsoft´s founders in 2010.
