Facebook seeks to curb the spread of false news

The American Facebook Company announced in a statement last Wednesday that it will cooperate with two non-profit United States companies to curb the global spread of misleading and false information, which may affect the election, and acknowledged that false news sites are still read by millions who Are browsing social media sites.

The largest social networking network  "Facebook ", which is under pressure to counter publicity, said it will work with the International Republican Institute and the National Democratic Institute, which was founded in the 1980s, where they are funded by the U.S. government to promote democratic processes, In addition, the two institutes have no connection with the two major American parties with the same names.

According to Sky News Arabia, the cooperation revealed by the company´s executives in contact with journalists in a large number of statements issued by Facebook, on the integrity of the elections before important elections in Brazil next month, and in the United States in November.

While the company is preparing a "war room" for the Brazil elections, executives within Facebook said they are testing the resilience of the network while simulating attempts at manipulation, such as on the eve of elections, including discouraging voters from making false representations about voting procedures.

Another training is on how the company deals with a large number of pages managed in other countries, which suddenly promote materials related to the U.S. election.

Researchers from Stanford and New York University said that  "The improvements made by Facebook may be driven by changes in shapes and formulations, including increasing emphasis on family and friend publications, and limiting the spread of so-called content that is essentially aimed at Attract attention, encourage browsers to use a link to access certain pages  ".
