Facebook is launching a watered-down version of Instagram in more than 170 countries

The "Facebook" group has launched a reduced version of its photo and video sharing service, the Instagram network, in more than 170 countries, targeting rural areas and isolated communities that do not have high-speed Internet access.

You can download "Instagram Lite", which does not exceed 2 MB (compared to 30 MB for the full version) on mobile phones operating "Android" to run from "Google".

The app is not yet available on the Apple online store.

Tzah Hadar, head of product management at the Facebook Center in Tel Aviv, who worked on the creation of Instagram Light, said the aim was to provide "lightweight versions of Facebook applications for people with slow connections or limited data services."

The app includes the main Instagram features of editing and posting photos, adding feedback in the form of GIFs, stickers, or sharing video clips of varying length.

However, Instagram Lite does not allow the use of some data-intensive functions, such as augmented reality filters. Additionally, the app does not display ads when launched.

Thanks to this new service, Facebook expands its strategy to invade emerging markets such as India or Brazil, where it has opportunities for progress greater than those available in Europe or the United States.

This also reflects the efforts of the giant group specializing in social media to enhance the scope of its range of applications (“Instagram”, “WhatsApp” and “Messenger”) despite the numerous investigations into anti-competitive practices in the United States and the world.
