“The catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza is on the verge of reaching breaking point,” said EU Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarčić .
Lenarčić added, in his statements on Monday, that "fuel, water, food and medicine must reach those trapped in Gaza immediately."
He continued: "We launched the humanitarian air bridge operation to Egypt to transport life-saving supplies to people in need in Gaza and to provide support to partner humanitarian organizations on the ground. Once the supplies arrive in Gaza, it is essential that relief workers are able to do their job, which is to provide assistance to those in need and save lives." .
Lenarčić stressed the need to "ensure the safety of humanitarian workers to bring these supplies to those in need without any obstacles."
