European Union leaders have formally agreed to extend the deadline for Britain´s exit from the bloc until the end of January, EU Council President Donald Tusk said on Tuesday.
"To my British friends," the Polish politician wrote. "Please make the best use of this time."
"I say to my British friends that the 27 EU countries have formally agreed to the extension," Tusk wrote in a tweet on Twitter. "It may be the latter. Please take full advantage of this time."
More than three years after the British voted 52-48 percent in favor of Brexit in the 2016 referendum, the country and parliament remain deeply divided.
This is the third time the exit has been postponed. It was scheduled to take place on 31 October.
