Dr. Saeb Erekat, secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and Jordanian Foreign Minister, warned of the danger of the continuation of the current situation and stressed in their talks in Amman on Sunday the need to launch an effective international effort to end the conflict. The basis of the two-state solution in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab peace initiative is a unique way to achieve comprehensive peace in the region.
The talks focused on the latest developments in their joint efforts to find a political horizon for resolving the Palestinian issue on the basis of a two-state solution, guaranteeing full Palestinian rights, including the right to freedom and an independent state along the lines of June 4, 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Safadi and Erekat agreed to continue consultations and coordination.
Safadi stressed that the Kingdom will continue to use all its resources to reach a solution to the conflict, ending the occupation and equating Palestinian brothers and fulfilling their right to live in dignity in their independent state on their national soil.
For his part, Erekat valued the continuous efforts led by King Abdullah II to support the Palestinian people and Jordan´s steadfast positions in supporting the Palestinian people and their right to freedom and the state.
