The Central Elections Commission announced today, Wednesday, that the door to voter registration will be closed to participate in the Palestinian elections 2021, both legislative and presidential.
The committee clarified in a statement that during the voter registration process that began since the announcement of the presidential decree and until midnight last night, (421 thousand) citizens were registered, bringing the total number of registered persons to 2,622 million citizens, or 93.3% of the 2,809 holders of the right to register. One million citizens, according to estimates by the Central Bureau of Statistics.
The committee indicated that these numbers reflect a great turnout for the registration process, which reflects the citizens´ desire to participate in the electoral process, indicating that the registration process was carried out according to the pre-prepared plan, without any problems.
The committee extended its sincere thanks to all its partners in the electoral process, especially the citizens who interacted with the registration process, the factions, civil society institutions, media and official institutions, especially the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Information and Official Media and the Palestinian Federation of the Deaf, praising in particular the efforts of their steadfast staff And mobile that worked during the registration period.
The Election Commission stated that, according to the previously announced legal terms, the process of managing and revising registrants´ data, and preparing for the publishing and opposition phase, which will start on the first of next March, and will continue for a period of 3 days, will start as of Wednesday morning
