The Hebrew newspaper Haaretz reported today, Wednesday, that the Jerusalem municipality, affiliated to the occupation authorities, has asked an Israeli court to renew demolition orders for dozens of buildings in Silwan, which are inhabited by about 1,500 Palestinians.
According to the newspaper, in recent years the municipality has conducted exceptional negotiations with residents of the neighborhood to promote the plan to evacuate these homes and build others, under the pretext of finding housing solutions for them, until it reached an agreement with them before it began withdrawing from it under the pretext that the residents did not abide by the agreement that provides for the submission of permits.
