The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday announced the discontinuation of computerized radiology (C.R) in most hospitals.
Ibrahim Abbas, director of the Department of Radiology and Technical specializations of the Ministry, said that this was due to the failure of a large part of it and the unavailability of C.R cassettes as well as the lack of readiness of the radiology system within those hospitals.
This has disrupted work, especially in times of emergency, and coincided with the major return march and the arrival of hundreds of injuries to hospitals, he said.
He pointed to the acute shortage of acids used in the acidification of radiology films, referring to the lack of return by working in the traditional way by photographing cases through the normal rays, which contributed to the depletion of the stocks of those acids significantly.
He stressed the need to provide such supplies urgently, to provide and ensure the continuity of diagnostic services for patients and sufferers and to avoid the suffering of waiting and worsening of their health condition.
