Cuban institutions and the ruling party in Cuba have said that the Palestinian issue is its cause, and that it is in solidarity with Palestine so that the Palestinian people can attain their right to establish their own State with Jerusalem as their capital, and that they are alongside Palestine in all international institutions, as is Palestine on their side against the unjust blockade against Cuba by America.
This came during the reception of the President of the Cuban-Palestinian Friendship Association, Mohammed Abu Atan, in the Cuban capital of Havana by a North African and Middle East official in the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee of the ruling party, the Palestinian official in the department, and the official of the Cuban Solidarity Organization with the peoples and the Cuban world "Compras ", the president of the Cuban-Arab Friendship Society, and the President of the Arab Union in Cuba "al-Furwa ".
Abu Atouan valued the Cuban position, thanking them for their solidarity with the Palestinian cause, and affirming the solidarity of the Palestinian People with the Cuban people in their struggle against the US blockade and against the US base at Guantánamo.
He conveyed to them the greetings of the Palestinian leadership, headed by President Mahmoud Abbas, thanking them for giving scholarships to Palestinian students this year, which has reached more than fifty scholarships to study medicine as well as medical specialties.
In a related context, he met with the board of directors of the "al-Asbal" organization of Solidarity with the peoples of Latin America, Africa, Asia and the Middle East, and representatives of the embassies of these regions, to exchange ideas and opinions on the holding of the next World Conference on Solidarity with Palestine in the Latin American region, held Every two years.
Abu Atan expressed his support for this Conference next year to familiarize the peoples of the region with the Palestinian cause, especially the issue of Jerusalem, the eternal capital of Palestine.
Abu Atouan thanked the board of directors for receiving and deciding to hold the next General Conference in the Latin American region, affirming the Palestinian position in support of the rights of the Cuban people in removing the American base and lifting the blockade.
