RAMALLAH _ Palestine News Network
On Tuesday, clashes erupted between scores of students and Israeli troops at the Beit El checkpoint north of Ramallah.
According to eyewitnesses, the Israeli army conducted a rally organized by students from the "Birzeit University" at the "Beit El" military checkpoint.
The army used rubber bullets, sound bombs and tear gas to disperse the demonstrators, according to sources.
Witnesses added that the students closed the main street with small rock blocks, set fire to rubber tyres, and threw stones and empty bottles at Israeli troops.
No injuries were reported.
The students had staged a vigil on campus, before travelling by bus to the "Beit El" military checkpoint.
The student blocs at Birzeit University have already called for a march on the military checkpoint, in solidarity with the residents of the "Red Khan" community, which is threatened with demolition and deportation, and a rejection of the "law of Jewish nationalism."
