China´s culture industry has grown rapidly since the country was founded in 1949, with the number of cinema screens in the country ranked first in the world, according to a report released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
As of the end of last year, total cinema screens owned by cinemas across China were 6,679 screens, up 3.6 times from 2012.
The total size of the box office was 60.98 billion yuan (about 8.9 billion US dollars) in 2018, the report said on Thursday.
China´s investment in the cultural sector also increased to more than 92.8 billion yuan in 2018.
The value added of China´s cultural industry exceeded 3.87 trillion yuan in 2018, accounting for 4.3 percent of GDP.
