The Palestine Center for Prisoner Studies said that hundreds of Palestinian students of different categories were denied enrollment in the new academic year, which started today, due to the arbitrary measures of the occupation against them, from being absent behind bars or being imprisoned.
The Center explained that the occupation arrests in its prisons (235) Palestinian children, all of whom are school students at their levels (primary - middle school - high school), and these should have been at the start of the new school year on school benches, but they will not be able to enroll as their peers to study because the occupation He keeps them behind bars, in poor conditions, and some of them are serving long prison sentences.
And he indicated that home confinement is the confinement of the child after his release from the occupation prisons in his home in a forcible manner, where the parents sign a pledge that their son will not leave the house throughout the confinement period and he is not allowed to go to school or visit his relatives or play with his peers in the area surrounding the house, and turns Safe home to prison with different jailer.
He pointed out that the house arrest penalty targets Jerusalemite children in particular, especially those whose young age does not allow them to be imprisoned in the occupation prisons, so the arrest is replaced by house arrest, which causes repercussions on the child’s psyche and makes him constantly grumbling, tense and hostile, as the child sees his friends playing outside. and have fun.
The Palestine Center for Prisoner Studies accused the occupation of deliberately destroying the future of Palestinian children by arresting them for long periods and subjecting them to torture and abuse during interrogation, holding them in difficult and harsh conditions in prisons, issuing retaliatory sentences against them, or detaining them in their homes that have become prisons for them, which exposes their psyches to destruction. And threatens their future to serve the policy of occupation.
The center called on the international community, which approved the conventions on the rights of the child, to intervene in a real and effective way, and to compel the occupation to stop targeting Palestinian children with arrest, abuse and house confinement, and to provide them with protection and treatment according to international humanitarian law.
