The Palestine Center for Prisoners Studies said today, Monday, that 30,000 cases of detention have been issued for Palestinians of all classes since the outbreak of the Jerusalem gift on October 1, 2015, which is 5 years old.
The director of the center, Riad Al-Ashqar, said that the arrests have become a daily phenomenon that the occupation uses as a tool of oppression and collective punishment to fight the Palestinian people, as not a day passes without any cases of detention in a deliberate process of human attrition.
Al-Ashqar pointed out that nearly a million Palestinians have experienced the bitterness of families since 1967, and the cases of arrest since September 2000 until today have reached (122) thousand arrests, while since the outbreak of the Jerusalem gift in October 2015, (30) thousand have been monitored. A state of detention that affected all segments of Palestinian society, including children, women, patients, the elderly, activists, media professionals, fishermen, legislative representatives, faction leaders and others.
Among the cases of arrests during the Jerusalem gift (5700) cases of detention of minors, (900) cases of detention of women and girls, some of them wounded and minors, and (1000) cases of arrests for incitement on social networking sites Facebook.
Al-Ashqar pointed out that all of the detainees were subjected to one or more forms of physical or psychological torture, and moral abuse and degrading humiliation in front of citizens, or family members, especially children, which constitutes a serious violation of the rules of international humanitarian law and international human rights law, and some of them were shot in a manner. He mentioned that the occupation clearly escalated during the Jerusalem gift of issuing administrative decisions against Palestinian prisoners, as the report monitored (6000) administrative decisions from the occupation courts, between a new decision and renewed detention for new times, among them (41) administrative decisions against women, and ( 85) An administrative decision against minor children, two of whom are still under administrative detention.
Al-Ashqar indicated that the cases of detention during the gift of Jerusalem among underage girls reached (100) cases, the youngest of whom was the child Dima Ismail Al-Wawi (12 years) from Hebron, who was arrested for four months and released, while the occupation courts issued harsh deterrent rulings against female prisoners and minors that reached 16 years for some Female prisoners, and the occupation arrested minors after they were shot in harsh and brutal conditions.
During the Jerusalem gift, the Center monitored (280) arrests of elderly people, most of whom were arrested on charges of defending Al-Aqsa Mosque in Rabat, as well as (59) arrests of academics and lecturers at universities, and (460) cases of detention of sick and disabled persons, some of whom were arrested on his wheelchair.
Al-Ashqar pointed out that during the Jerusalem uprising, the number of martyrs of the captive movement rose to (225) martyrs, with the rise of (19) new martyrs among the prisoners, 11 of whom were martyred as a result of deliberate medical negligence, and 5 others died after they were arrested injured and transferred to hospitals, and not providing them with adequate care. While two were martyred as a result of the assault, they were severely beaten after the arrest.
