Blinken discusses with Shukri the situation in the Palestinian territories

The US State Department said that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken held telephone talks with his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry, about joint efforts to promote regional stability.


The ministry said in its statement, which came through the official spokesperson for the ministry, Matthew Miller, that the two ministers discussed: “The situation in the Palestinian territories, Israel, Sudan and Libya, and they also discussed strengthening regional stability through intensive coordination to end the conflict in Sudan and the support of the United Nations Special Representative, Bathily, in mediating an agreement.” A path to successful elections in Libya and to promote equal measures of security, dignity, and prosperity for Israelis and Palestinians.”


Blinken also affirmed the United States' full support for a diplomatic solution regarding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam that protects Egypt's water needs and promotes the interests of all parties.


Blinken welcomed the recent release of Egyptian human rights defenders Patrick Zaki and Mohamed El-Baqer, and said that "progress in the field of human rights will enable the establishment of the strongest possible partnership between the United States and Egypt."
