Bishop Atallah Hanna accuses Israel of trying to poison him

The Archbishop of Sebastia of the Greek Orthodox, in the occupied city of Jerusalem, Bishop Atallah Hanna, said on Monday that indications indicate that Israel is responsible for an incident of poisoning last week.

This came, in statements made by Bishop Hanna to the official Jordanian TV, from a hospital in the Jordanian capital, Amman, where he was transferred to her for treatment.

Hanna said, according to what was reported by the "Kingdom" TV on his official website: "What happened could be an assassination attempt, or keeping me sick throughout life. The repercussions of the toxic substance are dangerous, especially on the nervous system."

He added that a team in Palestine "is collecting evidence to ascertain the nature and source of the substance inhaled."

He continued: "I cannot be certain that Israel is behind this incident, but indications are that it is behind it."

He added: "I believe that Israel was proven involved in this incident, because its objective was not tantamount to an assassination, but rather an attempt to harm me."

And last week, an Israeli establishment sprayed chemicals near the patriarchate in the Holy City, which resulted in the injury of Hanna, and his transfer to hospital in Jordan.
