The so-called Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, decided to limit visits to families of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons.
According to Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, visits to the families of Palestinian prisoners from the West Bank will be only once every two months, instead of once a month.
She indicated that this step will be implemented from next Sunday, when the families of 1,600 prisoners will visit their children in prisons.
Israeli security sources said that Ben Gvir made the decision without coordination with the security services, and after confrontation and strong opposition from the Commissioner of the Prison Service, Katy Perry, who warned him of serious consequences on the Palestinian street, given that the issue of prisoners has a special and sensitive status.
The Red Cross expressed its strong opposition and even threatened to resort to international courts if the conditions of security detainees were harmed.
This decision comes after another unilateral step announced by Ben Gvir this week, which is the abolition of the mechanism for the administrative release of prisoners, due to overcrowding and overcrowding in Shin Bet prisons, and the decision sparked criticism from the Shin Bet chief. which he argued harmed efforts to "thwart terrorism".
A senior security official said: This step will set fire to the region and endanger the situation, and will lead to an escalation inside and outside the prisons.
Ben Gvir said: This is my policy and for that I was elected, and I will implement it.
