A study in Germany shows that artificial intelligence can diagnose skin cancer better than skin professors.
Competed with 157 dermatologists from 12 university hospitals in Germany against the computer.
The competition between doctors and the program was developed specifically for this experiment.
During the experiment, the doctors had to evaluate 100 images and try to determine if the disease in the images was a mole, "hematoma," or melanoma.
The experiment showed that artificial intelligence was more accurate than human diagnosis, according to the National Cancer Center in Heidelberg on Thursday.
The study is published in the current issue of the European Journal of Cancer, a cancer research journal.
