Areej Institute: 3 new settlement plans to build 702 settlement units in the West Bank

The Applied Research Institute "ARIJ" revealed the existence of three new settlement plans on a total area of land estimated at 733 dunums.

On July 20, 2022, the occupation authorities published these plans to establish new settlements in various locations in the West Bank .

The three schemes will confiscate the total area of 733.6 dunums of Palestinian land.

The first settlement plan bears the number יוש/2/4/2/235 and confiscates an area of 103.7840 dunums of Palestinian lands belonging to Ras Karkar village in Ramallah governorate in order to expand the Israeli settlement of Talmon.

The plan calls for the construction of 168 new settlement units in the settlement, specifically in Basin No. 1 in the area known locally as Ras Abu Zaitoun, and Basin No. 9 in the area known as Shubat Al-Deeb.

As for the second settlement plan, it bears No. 205/2/2 and confiscates an area of 375.90 dunums of Palestinian land in order to expand the Israeli settlement of Shiloh (Shivut Rachel settlement, the second phase), which belongs to the town of Turmusaya in Basin No. 3, in the area known locally as Shaab Al-Masry. , and the town of Jalud in Basin No. 13 in the area known as Al-Hafish. According to the issued plan, 534 new housing units will be built in the settlement.

The third settlement plan targets the Naama settlement in the Palestinian Jordan Valley and bears the number 321/4. The plan protects the confiscation of 253.9340 dunums of Palestinian lands that belong to the Palestinian village of Al-Nuweima, in particular in Haw No. 2, plot No. 3, where the allocation of the targeted land will be changed from agricultural To agricultural lands, engineering facilities, and a proposed road for the purpose of constructing a photovoltaic facility.

Areej Institute said that the Israeli occupation authorities are building permanently and without interruption in the Israeli settlements built on the occupied West Bank lands. Today, the Israeli settlements occupy an area of 201 square kilometers (3.6% of the occupied West Bank) and are inhabited by nearly one million Israeli settlers.

The Israeli settlers residing in these settlements receive many privileges and facilities to support their presence in the Israeli settlements.

And all of this is done in complete disregard by successive Israeli governments of international laws and norms and resolutions issued by the United Nations Security Council, in addition to the agreements signed between the Palestinians and the Israelis.
