The Executive Council of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) on Sunday approved a set of resolutions on the Palestinian issue entitled "The unwavering support of Asian parliaments for the Palestinian people".
The resolutions adopted called on all 44 members of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly from Asia to support and treat the State of Palestine as a full member of the United Nations, and affirmed the support of the struggle of the Palestinian people against the Israeli occupation, until the liberation of their land and the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
The Prime Minister´s remarks condemned the annexation of the Palestinian Valley, the northern Dead Sea and settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, in gross and flagrant violation of the rules of international law and the provisions of the Charter of the United Nations and its resolutions, especially Security Council resolution 2334 of 2016.
She stressed the need to adhere to the relevant resolutions of the international legitimacy as the sole references to resolve the Palestinian issue, and rejected all conferences, plans and deals "American Deal of the Century", which does not abide by those resolutions, stressing that there is no peace, security and stability in the Middle East, only to end the occupation and the establishment of an independent state With its capital city of Jerusalem on the borders of June 4, 1967, and resolve the refugee issue in accordance with resolution 194, and called on the United Nations to defend its resolutions, which provided for an end to the Israeli occupation and enable the Palestinian people to self-determination on their land.
It called upon the countries that have opened embassies, offices or diplomatic missions in occupied Jerusalem to retract them in compliance with the UN Security Council resolutions referred to in the preamble to this resolution, in particular resolution 478 August 1980, and UN General Assembly Resolution A / ES-10 / L. December 22, 2017, which considered the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel as null and void, and called on all member states to refrain from establishing diplomatic missions there, and condemned the transfer of the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to occupied Jerusalem, considering it a violation of the principles of international legitimacy and its rules and resolutions of the Security Council To the United Nations Unit.
It also rejected the resolutions of the Executive Council, the policies and the occupation measures that violate international law and the international legitimacy resolutions practiced by the Zionist entity to change the historical, cultural, religious and demographic features of the occupied Palestinian land, especially Jerusalem, its Islamic and Christian holy sites in general, and Al-Aqsa Mosque in particular. Which constitutes a flagrant attack on the freedom of worship and the practice of religious rites as stipulated in human rights charters, and the First Geneva Protocol of 1977, Article 53 of which prohibits acts of aggression. Yeh directed against places of worship.
She stressed that the practice of worship and prayers and all Islamic religious rituals in the Al-Aqsa Mosque are natural and guaranteed rights for Muslims alone, and the Israeli occupation may not intimidate them and prevent them from performing their duties, and allow the settlers and extremists to attack the sanctity of these holy places.
It condemned the Israeli attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque and the excavation and encroachment on all Islamic and Christian holy sites in the occupied Palestinian territories.
It also condemned all violations of international law threatening international peace and security, including all acts of terrorism and organized crime; and human rights violations by Israeli occupying forces and settlers in Palestine, calling for international protection of the Palestinian people in accordance with General Assembly resolution A / Es-10 / L 23. On 11 June 2018, the Geneva Conventions are relevant.
It reaffirmed the applicability of the Fourth Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, of 12 August 1949, to the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including Jerusalem.
The resolutions of the Executive Council expressed its rejection and condemnation of the US administration´s decision to stop its financial contributions to UNRWA, and all attempts, resolutions and alternatives that affect the status and role of UNRWA established by UN Resolution 302 of 1949, and called on all countries of the world, especially members of this Assembly to support and protect UNRWA´s budget, Mobilize support for the renewal of its mandate, enabling it to fulfill its obligations to some 6 million Palestinian refugees until their case is resolved in accordance with UN Resolution 194.
The resolutions encouraged all members of the international community to press and demand that Israel immediately release all Palestinian detainees, including members of the Palestinian parliament, and condemn the failure of the Israeli Knesset to respond to the inquiry and fact-finding committees established by the Inter-Parliamentary Union regarding detainees in Israeli jails, as evident in the IPU meetings. And the dismantling of all illegal settlements as well as the entire separation barrier and an end to the confiscation of Palestinian land.
The resolutions considered that all legislative and administrative measures and actions taken by Israel, including the seizure of land and property aimed at changing the legal status of Jerusalem, were invalid and had no legal effect on their original status.
It also strongly condemned Israel´s continued construction of settlements in defiance of applicable international law, in particular Security Council resolution 2334 of December 2016; its disregard for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to resist and protest against foreign occupation of their territory; Achieving a just and lasting peace in the region.
It expressed grave concern about repression and injustice, as well as the ongoing violence against the Palestinian people, particularly women and children, in the occupied Palestinian territories under Israeli occupation, including East Jerusalem, and in the Israeli-occupied Syrian Golan.
It called on all members of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, the United Nations and all relevant regional and international organizations, in particular the United Nations Security Council and the International Criminal Court, to address, under the Charter of the United Nations and the Rome Statute, crimes against humanity and war crimes committed by Israel in Palestine that threaten peace And international security.
It also condemned the closure of the PLO diplomatic mission in Washington in response to Palestine´s membership in the International Criminal Court.
She praised the EU´s actions not to buy any products produced in existing settlements in the occupied territories, and called on the APA Member Parliaments to act in a similar manner and reaffirm their full support for the international boycott movement against the Israeli occupation.
The APA Executive Council rejected all illegal decisions taken by the Israeli Knesset, such as the Judaization of Jerusalem, the Law of Loyalty to Citizenship, the Denial of the Palestinian State, the Rights of the Palestinian People in the Occupied Territories, the Law of Jewish Nationalism, the Cessation of the Financing of the State of Palestine, The wounded and the families of Palestinian prisoners and detainees who are victims of the occupation, in violation of Articles 89 and 98 of the Geneva Convention.
The resolutions affirmed that development, investment and improving the standard of living are the rights that the Palestinian people have been deprived for 52 years now, because of the continuation of the Israeli occupation, and must first end that occupation, in order to liberate the Palestinian economy, and enable the Palestinian people to control its natural resources and economic wealth, and invest To live a decent life far from extortion and equality.
It also called on the international community to honor its pledges to rebuild the infrastructure, rehabilitate the Gaza population destroyed by Israeli forces and support the Palestinian economy in occupied Palestine.
The resolutions stressed the responsibility of the international community to support the implementation of the resolutions and recommendations of the UN Security Council, the UN General Assembly, the Human Rights Council and the Asian Parliamentary Assembly relevant to the situation in Palestine, particularly in Jerusalem.
She reiterated that the path of peace, stability and prosperity in the Middle East passes first by ending the Israeli occupation of a State of Palestine in implementation of the relevant international resolutions, while refusing to replace the political solution with an economic solution in order to legitimize and live with the occupation.
It is scheduled to ratify these decisions in December, during the 12th session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly in Istanbul, Turkey.
A delegation from the Palestinian National Council headed by Omar Hamayel participated in the meeting.
Hamayel reviewed the crimes and violations against the Palestinian people, their land and their holy sites.
He stressed the importance of providing international protection to the Palestinian people from the daily aggressions practiced by the occupying power, the latest of which is the exposure of farmers in olive fields.
Hamayel referred to the attack on UNRWA by the US administration, calling for its preservation, as it witnesses the suffering of the refugees and their tragedy, which has lasted for more than seventy years.
He called on parliamentarians to work with their governments to mobilize support to extend their mandate in accordance with its resolution 302 of 1949, and to double their financial support so that it can play its part towards refugees, who are waiting to resolve their case in accordance with resolution 194.
