An Israeli court acquitted two settlers from burning a church in Jerusalem

The Israeli Central Court in Lod has acquitted two settlers of setting fire to the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin in Jerusalem in 2016, the Hebrew daily Haaretz reported Tuesday.

According to the newspaper, the Public Prosecutor´s Office decided to withdraw indictments against the extremist settler Yinon Raufini, and another settler, under the pretext of Aden sufficient evidence against them.

Raufini, 23, was accused of burning the Tabgha church on the northern shore of Lake Tiberias in mid-2015.

Despite the confessions of Reuven and the other settler to carry out crimes against the Palestinians and Christian denominations, their trial was canceled due to the fact that these confessions were forcibly extracted by the Shin Bet.
