European Union foreign ministers will hold an emergency meeting next week to discuss the implications of recent developments related to the Syrian conflict that have pushed thousands of refugees to go to the border between Turkey and Greece.
European Union Foreign Minister Josep Borrell said in a statement that the fighting in the Syrian Idlib governorate "constitutes a serious threat to international peace and security" and has serious humanitarian implications for the region and beyond. "So I call an emergency meeting of the Council of Foreign Affairs next week to discuss the situation," he added.
